 Airline

To address today's pressing security needs, IATA and ICAO have partnered to provide airlines with the most up-to-date and comprehensive security training package available worldwide. Through dedicated security training, the overall objective is to provide airlines and any company involved in airline operations with the knowledge and tools needed to assist in the implementation of aviation security measures within the airline. Consisting of course material designed for 4 levels of personnel, this Aviation Security Training Package includes the following four separate training courses:

Disc 1 - Foundation

Disc 2 - Flight Deck & Cabin Crew

Disc 3 - Ground Services

Disc 4 - Management

 

The package fee is US$ 3900. It includes 4 CD-ROMs consisting of the course material for each level and 1 CD-ROM consisting of the Instructors Guide. You also receive, free of charge, the current edition of the IATA Security Manual.

Disc 1 - Foundation:                                   Disc 2 - Flight Deck and Cabin Crew:          

For selected staff at any level within the airline who must have a sound knowledge of security measures.

Key Course Objectives

  • Grasp the nature of the threats and risks to civil aviation;
  • Recognise the need for aviation security measures within the civil aviation industry, and the relationship between the airline and other key players;
  • Understand the responsibilities involved in developing legal and technical programmes to protect civil aviation;
  • Respond to security incidents or major security emergencies; and
  • Implement the relevant content of an Airline Security Programme.

For flight crew members who must have a sound knowledge of airline security measures to prevent and respond to acts of unlawful interference.

Key Course Objectives

  • Implement the relevant content of an airline security programme;
  • Understand the responsibility for security control of people and items taken on board an aircraft;
  • Recognise prohibited items, dangerous articles and substances;
  • Describe the airline procedures for the handling, carriage and disposal of restricted and dangerous articles;
  • Assist in the process of searching aircraft; and 
  • Respond to security incidents or emergencies on the ground or in-flight.

Disc 3 - Ground Services:                         Disc 4 - Management:                                        
Designed for selected airline staff or ground service providers responsible for ground services within the airline and who must have a sound knowledge of security measures to prevent and respond to acts of unlawful interference.

Key Course Objectives

  • Understand the need for security awareness;
  • Be aware of the security procedures at check-in, screening points and boarding gates;
  • Recognise the need for procedures for the handling, carriage and disposal of restricted and dangerous articles;
  • Assist in the process of protecting and searching aircraft;
  • Implement the security requirements for hold baggage and passenger/baggage reconciliation; and 
  • Understand the procedures for handling bomb threats to aircraft on the ground.

 

 

For selected staff at supervisory or management level within the airline who are either responsible for the implementation of security measures or required to be aware of such measures.

Key Course Objectives

  • Understand the evolution of the threat against aviation and the need for effective countermeasures;
  • Describe the minimum legislative requirements needed to establish a coordinated civil aviation security programme;
  • Participate in the development and implementation of appropriate Contingency Plans;
  • Manage the airline response to security incidents or major security emergencies;
  • Implement a human resource management scheme to ensure that standards of implementation of security measures are maintained; and 
  • Implement the relevant content of an Airline Security Programme.
